Sandee Meade, the radiant woman in the middle, directs Scotia House and set up the two writing workshops and the reading with CREATE. Tod Marshall and I read to a lively crowd, of which more than 50% were local high school students.

Tod Marshall kicked things off with a terrific reading, including a Whitman-influenced piece in praise of the belly.

Scotia House is a beautiful retreat center in the woods near Newport. Spent the afternoon writing with 12 imaginative, generous people. The best part? I get to do it again tomorrow.
